Our History

We have been making winches for over 50 years, in this time we have developed our products through lessons learned in the field and developed strong relationships with all our stakeholders. The traditional skills that have developed over the years enable our workforce to continue to provide the best quality for our clients, whilst research and development has seen new skills perfected to launch new products to market expanding our product range into full system solutions.

Our Innovation

North Sea Winches actively invests in research & development to maximise our product offering to new and existing markets. We continually evaluate what challenges our clients and suppliers face within these markets to look at developing best solutions for the job. Our ability to offer bespoke systems gives us the opportunity to apply research & development alongside working with our customers to achieve exactly what they require from concept through to manufacture and final testing on site.

Our Sustainability

Our in-house phase-gate processes allow a continual dedication to lean principals and quality ensuring that all our products that leave the workshop meet the highest standards as well as market standards such as Lloyds, DNV, NORSOK or BV as efficiently as possible to meet project deadlines.

North Sea Winches actively recruit apprentices to follow our apprenticeship programme helping the continuity of skilled workers which has led to the success and longevity of the company over the 50 years within industry. We use local colleges for our apprentices to study throughout their apprenticeships gaining the vital knowledge required to bring to practice their skills within different markets.


North Sea Winches is committed to the environment through its initiatives to reduce waste and waste management. Through material sourcing and utilising lean principals within the factory we have been able to significantly reduce waste material. All of our waste is recycled through our waste management programme showing our commitment to reducing greenhouse gases and hazards to human health caused by our waste streams.
